Il “forse” è d’obbligo, il prodotto presentato nel video non è mai stato annunciato prima non si è mai vociferato della scheda ne si sa nulla sulla compagnia che l’avrebbe creata, forse l’unica cosa che si ha è davvero il solo video. Molti altri progetti sono noti già da tempo anche se ancora non hanno creato nulla di concreto. La cosa triste è che la flashcard si presenta unicamente come unprodotto per la pirateria, nessuna menzione è stata fatta per l’avvio di homebrew e per la sua realizzazione mentre in passato abbiamo visto schede per DS che si focalizzavano solo su questo e che se si voleva utilizzare per la pirateria bisognava procurarsi firmware non originali.
N2S come molti altri supporta l’homebrew, ma è a sfavore della pirateria, l’homebrew può sempre essere una buona cosa, fornisce migliaia di tool che una console normalmente non ha. Ma purtroppo spesso questo si associa alla pirateria, e in ogni caso bisogna aggirare i blocchi fatti dai produttori. Sarebbe interessante se nintendo fornisse direttamente tool appositi per l’homebrew, cosi da lasciare libero sfogo ai programmatori indipendenti e ai programmi freeware e avere controllo su usi sospetti della cosa, debellando e combattendo la pirateria e rednendo effettivamente le schede non ufficiali illegali.
Tornando al video possiamo vedere che la scheda permette di inserire delle MicroSD contenenti il dump del gioco che si avvia automaticamente nella console. Al momento della registrazione del video non sarebbe stato creato ancora un menu di gestione per la scheda e per la selezione dei giochi.
Se la notizia fosse vera e la cosa venisse commercializzata non è difficile immaginare che Nintendo correrebbe subito ai ripari con un aggiornamento firmware del 3DS.
Al momento la scheda è un po’ limitata e ancora non in produzione stando alle informazioni che si riescono a raccogliere su internet, queste sarebbero alcune faq al riguardo:

– Can Nintendo block Gateway with an update?
Anything is possible we would rather not speculate (As always, any system updates should be avoided)
– How big are the games and what is the minimum size for the microSD card?
Some range from 256MB to 4GB
– Can you play multiplayer local and mostly online?Yes, but we advise not to use online features
– Do the game keep internet capacity?
Yes, but we advise not to use online features
– Is it upgradable?
Yes some aspects of the design will be upgradable.
– Can it run normal DS roms?
No, there are many alternative options for this.
